ALTA the first company world wide to offer a full 3" Catback exhaustfor the new 2007 Mini Cooper S, AKA R56. With our vast experiencewithother turbocharged cars, we learned that bigger is better and thata 3"exhaust system for the new turbo Mini would make the mosthorsepower tothe wheels.
In our initial testing, of our Catback exhaust, we found greatsolidgains of 10 Wheel HP and 10 ft-lbs of torque. While 10 WHP is verynoticeable, the most noticeable thing you will find is that theturbospools quicker providing roughly 200RPM quicker spool. This quickerspool means more low end power! Something you might not noticeissound. It is very important to us and everyone to make the exhaust makepower, but noise/tone is the next thing people are concerned with.Ournew 3" system is designed to be very very mellow and appease all typesof customers. No loud "farty" Honda sounds here!
NOW ALTA Takes it one step further and makes an entirely new lookto an already great product! With the addition of a thermal Powdercoatin a matte black finish, you can have the extra power and hide it too!
V-Bands
This item puts the ALTA exhaust in a completely different league compared to other Mini Cooper Exhausts. The High tech v-band is a perfect exhaust connection. They are designed to hold hundreds of pounds of pressure and do so with no gasket! This connection allows for a precise repeatable joint with the ability to rotate each joining connection. This allows for easy installation, and adjustments in the system.
3" 304SS tubing
304SS is known to be the standard in all high quality exhausts systems. 304SS provides high corrosion resistance, and excellent for extreme heat up to 1600 degrees. This is also what all of our Mufflersare made ofinside and out. Where many other manufactures use 409SS(will rust overtime and is what most OEMS use) the added expense ofthe 304SS is wellworth the long lasting high polish, and long termdurability.
Straight through 3" Mufflers
Another small but important feature of the muffler is they are true3".Meaning they are 3" on the inside of the muffler, not necked down to something smaller to help keep the costs down as well as the sound down. These methods of building mufflers is not good for making power. Although common in the aftermarket industry, this is not a method we employ!

Special note to European customers:
The ALTA R56 catback will not fit on European vehicles unless
ALTA R56 downpipeis also purchased or unless minor mods are made to the EU downpipe. Wehave sold MANY overseas and clients have been very happy!
Here is the dyno test on our R56 with just the catback installedbetween runs. 7 runs before and after were done to ensure the gainswere legit.
