Gain 10-12 WHP with the ALTA Cold Air Intake System

Just like you, your MINI craves fresh air. The ALTA Performance™ Intake System is the only after-market alternative that provides a steady supply of cool fresh air thanks to a unique designed box, and smooth silicone inlet hose (available in red, blue and black). Crafted from cold-rolled steel, the air box is finished to achieve an original equipment look and feel. Finish it off with the new Box Top (part #AMP-INT-250) , sold separately.

The ALTA Performance™ intake system pulls cold air from the factory air ram duct in the front grille and through the vent below the windshield. The isolated filter is bathed in cool fresh air and never exposed to the warm air under the hood. This is the only aftermarket intake system that is fed a constant supply of cool fresh air.

 And this is the only aftermarket intake that has proven the 10-12WHP gain many many times over. Check out our dyno graphs in the charts section.

AIR FLOW
The stock air intake system
The stock air intake draws air in through the scoop in the front grille. The air is passed into the lower portion of the air box where it is pulled through the air filter and into the throttle body. Once in the supercharger the air is compressed through the intercooler and into the motor.
 The weakest point in the system is the inefficient air ducting, which takes many, unnecessary turns and has a corrugated finish, which disrupts airflow.

Alta Performance™ cold air intake system
The Alta intake system pulls cold air from the air ram duct in the grille and through the vent below the windshield. The box is sealed to the hood and prevents under hood heat from entering the intake air stream. The filter encapsulated in a fresh air bath. Reducing inlet air temperatures will create a cooler, denser air charge raising HP, and torque.

AIR BOX
The  new Alta Performance™ air box is formed from cold rolled steel. Laser cut and CNC bent to perfection.  Power coated silver for protection and an O.E.M. look.  The new air box top will fit perfectly into the bottom of your factory air box. The box will be sealed to  the underside of the hood and prevent under hood heat  from entering the intake stream.

FOAM FILTER
Our high flow foam filter reduces intake restriction and increases  the surface area from which the engine can ingest clean  air. Unlike cotton and gauze type filters, foam filters allow for multi layer filtration. The ALTA Performance™ foam based filter will trap dirt within the filter at many different levels. This allows for better particulate restriction and will not reduce HP as the filter gets dirty. 

INLET HOSE
Finally the rubber inlet hose connecting the air box to the throttle body is also replaced. The inside of the factory part is corrugated and ribbed disrupted airflow. Turbulence is created and airflow velocity is reduced, compromising throttle response and upper end HP. Our silicone hose has mirroring smooth inside walls promoting a high velocity air charge. This silicone piece is available in high gloss blue, red and black to dress up the engine bay.

The below test is a bone stock Mini S with only a 15% Version 2.0 SC pulley installed. This shows the before and after with our Cold Air intake being installed.

The dyno graph above is our first test of the ALTA CAI on our first Mini Cooper S.   No modifications other than the intake system. To this day, no one has proven any other intake to make more Wheel HP.

The dyno graph above is a comparison done on  the North American Motoring website . This compares some of the other popular intakes out there. This is one of the many public dyno comparos done. NAM is a great site, if you are a new Mini owner. 

This above graph is from a dealer that dynoed there 19% Mini S with a GIAC chip installed. This car also had a catback installed, but just the complete Alta Cold Air Intake was changed between runs!
