3" Exhaust System
Install Difficulty Rating
Cooper S owners constantly complain about annoying resonances and the
overall mundane sound of the stock exhaust system. Our SPORTONE™
exhaust system sounds, looks and of course performs the way the factory
system should have. The exhaust note is pleasant and lively at idle
while giving a sporty, throaty growl under hard acceleration. All of
this without annoying resonances at high idle or while cruising the
interstate!
The ALTA Performance™ exhaust system combines a show quality exhaust
with a high horse power tuner system. The 3.0" diameter tubing (at
least .50" larger than competitive systems) is perfect match to the
high revving, supercharged power plant in the Cooper S. The enlarged
dual exhaust tips will retain an aggressive factory look.
While perfectly suited for otherwise stock Cooper S's, the system is
a real power builder on Cooper "S" equipped with our S/C pulley, intake
system and other engine modifications. Stock cars should expect similar gains to the 2.5" system , but the TWURBO kit customers will see gains far beyond this.
The ALTA Performance™ exhaust system deviates from traditional MINI
Cooper exhaust system design in favor of high horsepower output.
The ALTA Performance™ exhaust system directs exhaust gases through
large 3.0" inch diameter, high polish, stainless steel piping. Two
strategically placed inch mufflers reduce the sound volume
down to a low growl while the strait through design provides maximum
air flow.
The "S" shape of the ALTA™ Exhaust system creates the highest
exhaust gas velocity possible while maintaining the factory exhaust tip
location.

ALTA PERFORMANCE 3.0" EXHAUST
There are many things that make the ALTA 3.0" exhaust system stand out
from the rest. The design of the system, the finish, tips and the sound
are some of the things that stand out from the rest!
3.0"304 SS Tubing
Most aftermarket exhaust systems for the Mini Cooper use the OEM system
as a base design, and just install louder mufflers. While being the
simple way, it is not the best way. With the amount of exhaust flow
the Mini can produce with smaller SC pulleys installed, the
2.5"Diameter tubing is the best match for sound and performance. The
larger tubing is less restrictive, and CNC mandrel bent, which makes it
far smoother of an exit that the stock system.
Single Sided Design
One thing that makes our system very different from the rest is the
routing. Many other aftermarket systems use 2 mufflers (like OEM
system) on each side of the car. This adds extra weight, and complexity
to the system. Not to mention installation time can be longer. The ALTA 3.0" exhaust is a single sided exhaust. This means that the 3.0" tube
travels down the center of the car, and down one side, then out the
center. This routing is simpler, lighter, and very clean looking. We
choose to offset the system to the passenger side of the car, to help
offset the weight of the driver. This small feature is something many
of the weekend racers enjoy.
Our system also utilizes flanged connections instead of slip fits.
This makes for a solid easy to install system with little need for
adjustment.
Finish
The ALTA 3.0" system is made from 304SS which when polished to a mirror
finish, stays beautiful forever! That is why we fully polish our
system. This also allows for the end used to easily clean system when
it comes time for car shows! Our Stainless Steel tip is not polished at
all, in fact it is chrome plated! This keeps the tips from turning gold
as the extreme heat from the system heats the tubing. Another small but
very benificial feature of the ALTA 3.0" exhaust.
